n Friday, March 12 2004 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Loudon County Sheriffs Deputy Jason Michael Scott lost his life in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance. Deputy Scott was shot by a sixteen-year-old boy who had been on a drinking binge and became violent when his mother refused to allow him to drive to school. The first deputy on the scene, Scott was met with gunfire, ending this twenty-four year old life. Jason had been with the sheriff's department for three years.

Jason Scott was described as "a wonderful young man, very lively, very friendly, very outgoing" and was known and loved by many in Loudon County.

Scott was expecting his first child -- a daughter to be named Jayden Nichole Scott -- with his wife, Joni Hamil Scott , who is due at any time.
